Time is precious. With the current lockdown situation we see very clearly how time sensitive we are. Also in business, time is of the essence.

Let’s talk money… Price negotiation is actually the least favorite part of my job. It is always hard for me to say no to a customer because of price issues.

Professional interpreting is considered to be an expensive service. Is it really?

Time is money

Conference interpreters are highly skilled professionals who provide an exclusive and specialized service, even more so for less common languages, like Polish in my case. There are very few professional Polish simultaneous interpreters in Barcelona, and in Spain in general.

Conference interpreting is time consuming. The interpreters prepare for each assignment thoroughly. We check and learn vocabulary, create glossaries, always keep informed. Quite often, we need to travel for work, it involves checking the best options, booking, travel time, etc. Even though the actual duration of the interpreting service might be very short, it usually involves hours or days of the interpreter’s preparation time.

Conference interpreters are versatile and flexible. We are ready to work in all kinds of environments: one day it can be a noisy factory, another day an advertising campaign on the high seas or a formal political meeting. No matter where, if the conditions are right, we deliver.

Conference interpreting is valuable. A successful outcome of an event or a business meeting will overcompensate the price paid for a professional service. Experience shows that happy customers come back as long as they feel their money is well spent.

All in all, a well-done interpreting job is definitely worth the money and it should also be worth the interpreter’s while.
